Franz Anton Mesmer (1733-1815) fu un medico tedesco che operava in Francia. Era convinto che, applicando calamite al corpo umano, fosse possibile ottenere effetti terapeutici. Successivamente, concluse che non erano le calamite a provocare le guarigioni, ma un\u2019energia – \u201cmagnetismo animale\u201d – che si sprigionava dalle mani di un terapeuta. Organizz\u00f2 anche sedute di guarigione collettiva. I partecipanti erano invitati a stringere una sbarra di ferro che sporgeva da una tinozza colma di sostanze chimiche. In breve tempo, i pazienti avevano reazioni isteriche; e, in seguito, sostenevano di sentirsi guariti. Colpito dal \u201cmesmerismo\u201d il re Luigi XVI istitu\u00ec una commissione d\u2019inchiesta. <\/span>
Psicologo.<\/strong> <\/span>La commissione concluse che non c\u2019erano prove per sostenere l\u2019esistenza del \u201cmagnetismo animale\u201d e che le reazioni delle persone andavano piuttosto ricercate nella forza di suggestione esercitata da Mesmer. Il medico fu costretto a lasciare Parigi e mor\u00ec dimenticato in Germania. Il suo lavoro, tuttavia, dimostrava che l\u2019autosuggestione poteva davvero avere effetti sullo stato di salute di una persona; un\u2019intuizione che, pi\u00f9 tardi, sarebbe stata ripresa in campo psicologico.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
